Password

Here in this funny society where with the interwebs and the Among Us’s we need to keep our stuff private. For example, I don’t want anybody trying to log into my Among Us account and pretending to play as me. They could start saying things in the chat like “sus” which would ruin my reputation entirely.

To prevent this type of thing from happening, we have passwords. Whenever you sign up for any time of service, you have to make a password so the service knows that it’s you. It’s pretty annoying but there are a few reasons why you have to.

  1. Websites are stupid, and can’t tell who’s based on if you just tell them, “I’m me!”
  2. What if someone is very convincing, and tries to trick the website into thinking it’s you? Hopefully they can’t figure out your passwords.
  3. We want to make life more difficult for you.

The concept of a password really shouldn’t have to be spoon-fed to you. The word is pretty self explanatory. You also probably have had to mess around with passwords if you’re even on the website at all.

Almost everything needs a password these days. Want to unlock your phone? You need a password. Want to play Among Us without chat filters? You need a password. Want to unlock your safe containing millions of dollars in cash? You need to enter a useless, annoying password.

You’re supposed to keep your passwords super long and super complicated. We don’t want Xx_HackerMan123_xX to get into our bank accounts, now do we? You’re also supposed to keep your passwords different for each service.

Now, this is where most people draw the line. If my Fortnite password is “rIck@stleym7bel0ved” then my Minecraft account is also “rIck@stleym7bel0ved.”

This is a classic chess blunder, made by several new players.

The reason we don’t want to use the same password, is because websites are very, very stupid. They are very big, so they are bigger targets to Xx_HackerMan123_xX. Most websites forget their Xx_HackerMan123_xX repellant, and what usually happens is that Xx_HackerMan123_xX steals your data from the website, and now he has your password! You can always change one password easily, but can you bother to change them all? No! Humans aren’t that proactive!

So what happens if I forget my password? Firstly, this is why you write down your passwords on a thing called “paper,” or use a password manager if you want to be even lazier! This happens to a lot of people around the world, including Canada. Usually there’s a “forgot your password?” button below the login screen.

This message always seemed very taunting. It’s like it knows you forgot your password, and it wants to shame you for it.

I talked about emails in an earlier blog post! They’re relevant since it’s usually the other thing you need to sign up to anything. You’ll get sent an email that says “reset your password here!” like it’s a message from god himself.

But what happens if I forgot my email too?

uh…
